Fatal Accident Claims Woman's Life In Kensington
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A fatal accident claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman in Kensington on Friday night. Police say the accident occurred at A Street and Lehigh Avenue.
Authorities say the woman was crossing the street at Lehigh Avenue, but not at the traffic light. A driver struck the woman.
Initially, police say the driver attempted to flee the scene in a red Honda Civic. Later in the night, authorities explained that the driver was trying to flag down an ambulance that was traveling in front of him and that he did return to the scene.
The woman was taken to Episcopal Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:00 p.m.
Police say the accident remains under investigation.
