Top 5 Eagles Players, So Far

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- We're at the midway point in the Eagles' season and they've certainly have had their ups and downs.

But sitting at 4-4 with five of their final eight games at home isn't the worst position to be in.

Here are five players that have contributed to the Eagles' success the most, through the first half of the 2016 season.

5. Darren Sproles

Sproles is 33-years-old, but Doug Pederson is treating him like he's in his prime. Sproles has received over 80-percent of the offensive snaps in each of the past two games, something he had never done before in his career.

Sproles has 59 carries for 285 yards (4.8), 25 catches on 37 targets for 241 yards, and 197 punt return yards on 14 returns.

4. Jordan Hicks

In his second NFL season, Hicks has continued to blossom into a star. He is third on the team in total tackles (44), first in passes defended (8), and second in interceptions (2). He also has three tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery.

3. Fletcher Cox

There is this insane narrative cropping up that Fletcher Cox is underperforming this season, mostly because he signed a monster contract this offseason and he hasn't recorded a sack in the last four games. But that doesn't paint the entire picture.

Cox, who consistently sees double teams as an interior defensive lineman, is one of the Eagles' highest graded defensive players and has been dominant against the run every single week. In three of the last four games, Cox was missing his partner Bennie Logan.

Cox was the player of the month for one of the two month's so far, for crying out loud.

On the season, Cox has 4.0 sacks, 24 total tackles, 3 stuffs, 1 forced fumble, and 1 pass deflection.

2. Carson Wentz

Wentz has slowed down a bit after a torrid start (against weaker opponents), but is still consistently giving the Eagles a chance to win every week. Wentz came out of the gate winning NFL offensive rookie of the month of September. Before Week 8, Wentz was one of PFF's top-five highest graded QB's.

For the season, Wentz has thrown for 1,890 yards (64.4-percent), 9 TD's, and 5 INT's with one of the weakest receiving corps in the NFL.

1. Brandon Graham

Brandon Graham is the Eagles' mid season MVP and it's not really that close. Graham is having the best season of his career recording 26 total tackles, 4.0 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass deflection.

The pressures, however, do not show up in the box score. According to PFF, Graham had 11 of the Eagles' 23 pressures, eight hurries, and three hits just in Week 8 against the Cowboys alone. Graham is PFF's highest graded edge defender in the NFL.

Honorable mention:

  • Malcolm Jenkins (34 tackles, 1 INT, 1 TD, 1 FR, 6 PD)
  • Rodney McLeod (52 tackles, 1.0 sack, 1 FF, 3 INT, 5 PD)
  • Jordan Matthews (42 rec, 507 yards, 3 TD)
