Agholor Backtracks From Postgame Comments

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Plenty of Eagles fans were upset with Nelson Agholor after the team's loss in Dallas Sunday night. The wide receiver made fans angrier with his comments after the game.

A frustrated Agholor vented with a profanity-filled response to reporters who asked him about his mistakes during the loss to the Cowboys. It was an extension of a disappointing season for Agholor who has seen his share of drops and mistakes. On Wednesday, Agholor apologized for his postgame remarks.

"I let passion and emotion get the best of me that day," Agholor said. "The most important thing is that I understand ownership, especially in this game. This game is tricky. You can be very successful and sometimes you can fail but if you don't believe in growth in both then you're not in the right place."

Agholor is also conscious of his audience. He understands fans of all ages are tuned into the Eagles and is hoping his profanity does not have an effect on some of the team's youngest supporters.

"Some of my comments weren't a representation of a professional," said Agholor. "I apologize for swearing. I'm not perfect. I've sworn before but there are young children back there that listen to what we say and respect what we say. I don't want to give anybody the representation that I'm not somebody that comes from a good household."

Doug Pederson was quick to criticize Agholor's post-game comments. The head coach said he was disappointed in what Agholor said and the receiver is looking to follow the example being set by Pederson.

"He let me know and I respect him for that," Agholor said. "I even respected the comments he said before we spoke. He's done a great job with me in terms of coaching me and guiding me. and trying to help me become the young man I need to be in this world. I've got a lot of respect for him."

Agholor understands there is only one way to quiet his critics going forward. The Eagles' receivers have struggled and Agholor is looking to step up his level of play with a game against the Giants on the horizon.

"It comes down to understanding that you belong there and you are going to get it right," said Agholor. "That's the reality of it. When you drop a ball, you have to line up and know that the next one that comes your way, you're going to squeeze it. That's the growth that comes from an opportunity like that."
