PECO Gives Local Hospital Large Reward For Saving Energy
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – PECO has rewarded one of its customers with more than a half million dollars in incentives for making energy efficiency improvements.
Doylestown Hospital received $537,000 in incentives for their new combined heat and power gas turbine system.
"This is a unit that will produce electricity as well as hot water and steam that can be used for heating and other purposes at the hospital," says PECO spokesperson Ben Armstrong.
Officials say the system provides the hospital with about 1/3 of power that would have otherwise come from PECO. Armstrong says money saving incentives are not just for large institutions, but have energy efficiency programs for everyone:
" Our customers have saved more than a half a billion dollars in energy use and through rebates since we rolled out these programs in 2009."
