Yards Brewing Company Crosses The Delaware…Avenue

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia's Yards Brewing Company has officially announced their relocation into to a new, high-tech facility.

Yards' co-founder Tom Kehoe (dressed in his rendition of George Washington) was waving from a boat on wheels being pulled by his employees Thursday.

They traveled from the existing brewery near Delaware Avenue and Spring Garden to the future site on 5th Street near Spring Garden.

"We are out growing it," Kehoe says. "We want to get into cans. We want to get into a little bit bigger of an operation. You know, a bigger tasting room to greet people and tourism as they come into town."

The new will be more than 70,000 square feet and is expected to be operational in the fall of next year.

"This facility will allow us to get a little bigger, but we don't want to go any bigger than New York to D.C.," explains Kehoe. "We want to have depth in the market."

Mayor Jim Kenney tapped the firkin to mark the occasion. He lead a toast to Yard's relocation and expansion.
