Taste With Tori: Village Idiot
MOUNT HOLLY, NJ (CBS) -- There is a brewery and tasting room in Mount Holly where pints and growlers are being topped off with fresh artisanal ales and brews.
"We do a peanut butter porter, we do banana bread."
Anything goes at the Village Idiot Brewing Company, even acting a fool.
Owner Vince Masciandaro tells us that's how the place got its name, after a foolish mistake he and his partner made when they were trying to get their first bank loan.
"It turns out we showed up a week late to the meeting, so I said at the time to my partner Rich, 'we really are the village idiots.'"
Redeeming himself since, his everchanging list of craft beers has formed a huge following.
It's grown even bigger since Eagles fans got wind of a new batch inspired by Eagles' quarterback Carson Wentz.
"Wentzstephaner. I saw an article in the paper that Carson was at the Belgian Café and he said he liked wheat beers. So I thought Wentzstephaner would be a cool name for a beer, and it kind of blew up."
Word traveled near and as far away as North Dakota.
Masciandaro says, "One of my guys who was working here gave me the phone and said its some guy from North Dakota. He goes 'I sure would like to have some of that Wentzstephaner beer! I'd like to have it shipped up here because Carson is our pride and joy."
