If Your House Is Haunted, Do You Have To Disclose It?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you think your property is haunted and you want to sell it, do you have to disclose it to a potential buyer?

Some people believe a place could be haunted by previous residents who may have left the earth in a tragic way.

In some states you have to disclose on paper if there was murder or suicide on the property. What about in our area?

Realtor Keith Lawson of Re/Max said the murder suicide disclosure is not required, but recommended if questioned.

"If a murder/suicide happened in your property or if it's haunted and you did not put it in the disclosure and you weren't asked about it and you just sold the property and the buyer found out word of mouth from a neighbor or something happened in there, and they wanted to take you to court, it is their right to take you to court. But there was a court case in Pennsylvania Supreme Court that was ruled on as early as 2014, where it ruled in the sellers favor that they did nothing wrong."

And who knows, with the popularity paranormal investigation televisions shows having a friendly ghost could work in the seller's favor.
