Drop-Off Lane Doubles As Drive-Thru Prayer Service At Local Jewish Temple

PENN VALLEY, Pa. (CBS) -- Wawa may not have a drive-thru but this past weekend a local Jewish Temple did.

People who worship at Har Zion in Montgomery County were able to get in a few quick minutes of prayer without ever leaving their car.

The Temple once again transformed the drop-off lane outside of the synagogue into a Sukkah -- a temporary structure built as part of the celebration of the ancient harvest holiday of Sukkot which began on October 16 and wrapped up Sunday evening.

One of the commandments for the holiday is to shake a lulav palm branch while saying a blessing.

The convenient prayer service meant that moms and dads had the option to take part in the Kiddush ceremony of prayer while they were dropping off or picking their children up from school.

The drive-through service was meant to accommodate busy schedules and was open to all Har Zion members.
