Delaware Readies For Homecoming Match-Up With Towson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Delaware Blue Hens will be home on Saturday to play Towson for Homecoming.

The Blue Hens are 2-5 on the season (0-4 in the CAA) after a 28-3 loss to Stony Brook last weekend. The loss capped a difficult week for the program which started with the firing of head coach Dave Brock the previous Sunday. Dennis Dottin-Carter has taken over as the interim head coach (had been co-defensive coordinator) and he says the first few days after the change were especially tough, but eventually they were able to get down to business.

"Once Tuesday came, you saw exactly what you needed to see," Dottin-Carter tells KYW Newsradio. "You saw a bunch of young men who were hungry to go out and get a win on Saturday, who took care of business. They just came out and all they wanted to do was practice, being out there was therapeutic for them. It was really, really great to see."

But the Blue Hens were hurt by turnovers in the loss to Stony Brook. The Blue Hens fumbled the ball seven times, losing five of them.

"No matter what, you have to protect the football and we'd been doing a good job, up until Saturday," Dottin-Carter says.

Now Delaware prepares to host a Towson team that has also struggled here in 2016. The Tigers are 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the CAA.

"I see a good football team on film," Dottin-Carter says. "I see a well-coached football team on film. They've always been really good offensively, they've always had very physical, fast, talented defenses. They are absolutely going to come in here looking to win the game. They are going to be a huge challenge for us on Saturday."

Last year, these two teams played down in Maryland, Towson winning, 19-0.

Saturday's game in Newark will start at 3:30pm.
