Eagles CB Ron Brooks Out For The Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eagles cornerback Ron Brooks' season is over, head coach Doug Pederson announced on Monday.

Brooks, 28, ruptured his right quad tendon in Sunday's win over the Vikings.

Brooks has one fumble recovery, one pass defended, and 14 tackles in six games this season. Brooks, as a nickel corner, has started five of the six games replacing cornerback Leodis McKelvin for three of those games.

The Eagles will look to undrafted 23-year-old rookie C.J. Smith, who was Carson Wentz's college teammate at North Dakota State.

"We have C.J. Smith that we've activated," Pederson said on Monday. "Jaylen [Watkins] on the outside and Malcolm [Jenkins] coming down inside and playing the nickel spot. But we've got to continue to look at getting C.J. some more reps probably during the week to have a full complement of secondary help."

When asked about if the Eagles could be looking to make a trade to add secondary depth, Pederson said, "that would be something for Howie [Roseman]."
