The Eagles suffered a heartbreaking first loss of the season to the Lions last week with a couple of late turnovers. This week, they look to rebound against the Redskins, but in the early part of the game, they couldn’t seem to find any rhythm.
After the Redskins went on a pair of long touchdown drives to go up 14-0, the Birds were looking for someone to step up and make a play to energize the team. Enter rookie running back Wendell Smallwood. On the kickoff following the second ‘Skins touchdown, the rookie provided some magic.
That’s the first kick return touchdown of this NFL season. The reason it was only 86 yards? The Redskins had gotten an excessive celebration penalty on the previous touchdown.
