New Fairmount Whole Foods Focuses On Lifestyle Development
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The new Whole Foods Market in Fairmount is double the size of the one two blocks away that closed earlier this week.
The new Fairmount Whole Foods is now open at 22nd and Fairmount. Developer Neil Rodin called Friday a special day.
"I'm overwhelmed in the most amazing way."
Rodin said the new Whole Foods is part of a project that includes CVS, Santander Bank, Jefferson Hospital and residences above.
"This is a mix-use lifestyle development, which is the first in the city."
Rodin said this three acre plot of land used to be an old hotel.
"And no one could figure out who the owner was," he said. "Everyone wanted this site, so it wasn't that we were geniuses, but my son figured out how to find the owner who was a foreign company. So we ended up tracking her down."
The project took four years to come to fruition, be he said it was worth the wait.
"It's everyone! Like, it's aesthetically pleasing, there are so many options!"
