Kelce: 'Most Fun I've Had Playing Football In My Career'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A sixth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011, this is Jason Kelce's sixth NFL season.

The 2014 Pro Bowl center, who admittedly has been struggling a bit this season, says this is the most fun he's ever had playing football.

"We have a really, really good team with really, really good players with really good people," Kelce said of his surprise 3-1 Eagles. "Even though -- like we said just a few seconds ago, physically I had a bad first couple games -- right now through the first four games this is the most fun I've had playing football in my career. So hopefully I can get this thing going and this thing can get rolling again this week."

Kelce, who has been praised by rookie quarterback Carson Wentz for helping him understand protections, says guys love playing for new head coach Doug Pederson.

"I think it's a culmination of things," Kelce said when asked about his love of this team. "Doug's doing a great job right now of letting guys show their personalities and guys are having fun playing with each other. We're having fun -- obviously winning football games always helps that out. And I feel like offensively we've done some really, really good things through the first four games."

Kelce's offensive line partner, right-tackle Lane Johnson, was officially suspended for the next 10 games earlier this week. It's a huge blow for the Eagles, as Kelce calls Johnson the best tackle in the NFL.

"He plays the game hard, plays the way it should be played. This year, in my opinion, he's the best tackle right now in football -- especially at that right tackle position, the way he finishes everything. We've been really blessed having him and Jason Peters out there on the edges this year. So that's the way it goes, unfortunately, and we're going to have to move on here. Big V [Halapoulivaati Vaitai] is going to get an opportunity this week to show what he's got."
