Ray Didinger: Odell Beckham 'Has To Grow Up'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Ray Didinger, from 94 WIP, says New York Giants Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr needs to show more maturity and stop hurting his team following repeated outbursts and reduced production on the field this season.

Didinger, while speaking with Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, stated that other teams in the league are taking advantage of Beckham's volatile personality.

"The problem is he's a hot head and he has the emotional stability of a four-year-old. It's now well known around the league that he's a guy that you can get to, a guy that will fly off the handle and lose his discipline and start fighting with refs and fighting with his opponents and fighting with teammates if things aren't going his way. So now, it's part of every team's strategy, whenever they play against him, that right from the start of the game, guys start yapping at him and pushing him and nudging him and grabbing at him and doing things to frustrate him, knowing that he's going to explode at some point."

He thinks the onus is on Beckham to turn things around before things get worse for him and the Giants.

"You get a kid who is, obviously, really high strung, you give him millions of dollars, you lavish him with all kinds of praise as a rookie, to the point where he's just starts thinking he's a privileged person and can do and say whatever he wants to and you wind up a monster on your hands. That's, kind of, what the Giants have got to have. They're not going to give up on this kid because he's just too talented, but it's ultimately on him. He's just has to grow up."
