First Man-Made Surf Park In The US Set To Open Friday

AUSTIN, Texas (CBS) — If you call yourself a surfer there’s a new place you’ll be able to catch some gnarly waves: Austin, Texas.

That may sound strange now but on Friday, the Lone Star State will become the first in the US to open a man-made surf park.

According to their website, NLand Surf Park is able to make thousands of waves a day in three different difficulties based on a surfer’s level of experience.

The “Bay” experience is for kids or new surfers who are still trying to get their surfer feet under them. Opting for the “Inside” provides a longer ride where surfers can hone their skills. Lastly, the “Reef” is for the pros who can hang with steeper waves that will challenge even the seasoned surfers.

And don’t worry land lovers — there’s also a spectator pass for those who want to watch the action from the shore.
