Police Shoot, Kill Man Following Barricade Situation In Ventnor

VENTNOR, N.J. (CBS) -- A barricade situation in a shore town led to police shooting and killing a man last night.

Police called to a home on Burgley Avenue in Ventnor, Atlantic County. It was around 7 at night.

Chris Aoeksandrov, a resident in the Ventnor Heights part of town where of this all happened, explained what he was hearing to CBS 3 Eyewitness News.

"I was watching TV, next thing you know you heard gunshots. Maybe four shots fired. I came out, cops rolled in, half hour later, you heard another four shots and after that they just went off. Maybe 15 shots in a row."

Authorities say inside of the house was a man with a gun.

His parents were reportedly outside of the house when police arrived.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's office says the SWAT team was involved and the man ended up being shot and killed by officers.

It's not clear, at this point, if that man fired his weapon. The state Attorney General's Office is investigating.
