Vice President Biden Remembers Delaware Firefighters Killed In The Line Of Duty

DELAWARE (CBS) — A memorial service was held on Saturday for the two Delaware firefighters killed battling a blaze last weekend in Wilmington.

Joe Biden noted the bravery displayed by both 41-year-old Christopher Leach and 51-year-old Jerry Fickes, both killed in the line of duty.

He said it took lots of courage for all the firefighters to step through the door of the burning row home. Four others were injured battling the blaze.

Lietenant Leache’s close friend and fellow firefighter Brandon Gregg describes the 14-year veteran of the as a family man and excellent father.

“Chris’s kids were the center of his world. Brendon, Abigail and Megan were the reason for Chris’ existence. No matter what the activity, where the activity, how much time or how little, Chris was there,” Gregg said.
