High School Top 10: North Penn Winning Through The Air

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Dick Beck built a powerhouse at North Penn. The veteran coach is reaching legendary status with the success he's had through the years, which includes a 4A state championship in 2003. By the end of this season, Beck will be become the all-time winnest coach in North Penn history, exceeding Kenneth D. Poust, who coached the program in the 1940s and into the early '50s.

What Beck has had the ability to do is adjust.

In previous years, North Penn won with a power running game and strong defense. This year, the Knights are winning through the air. The Knights have started the season 5-0, and right now with the way senior quartwerback Reece Udinski and senior receiver Ricky Johns, a West Virginia commit, are playing, fugure North Penn to be a 6A state title threat.

Here's why:

In five games, Udinski has thrown for 1,285 yards and 14 touchdowns, avergaing 257 yards passing a game. The Knights have outscored their first five opponents by 187-to-72, which includes victories over La Salle and Downingtown East. North Penn is avergaing 37.4 points a game entering its chalenge at 5-0 Central Bucks South tonight at 7 p.m.

While the area may be looking at St. Joe's Prep as the 6A standard, Beck and North Penn will probably have something to say about that in late November.
