7-Year-Old Diagnosed With Stage Three Cancer; Philly Community Comes Together For Prayer

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- The Port Richmond community held a block party on Sunday for a little girl just diagnosed with stage three cancer, to raise money and pray for a miracle.

Families, friends and complete strangers came out to support 7-year-old, Philomena Stendardo, who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

The prayer block party was organized by family friend Tom Turner.

"96 hours ago, this idea started," he said.

Philomena was diagnosed just two weeks ago, when her dad Mark noticed something in her soccer game.

"He had seen something that looked a little bit off when she was running in soccer, took her to the hospital, and they found out she had a tumor," Turner said.

And when family friends like Kim heard the news, they wanted to jump in and help.

"Everyone has reached out to them in some way, any way possible and their only response is please just pray, don't stop praying," Kim said.

Hoping for a miracle...

"We're going to storm the heavens with a prayer."
