From Truck Driver To Rockstar, New Creativity To American Classic

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A classic American band is coming to town to play music from its first new album in 16 years.

Two years ago, lifelong musician Ronnie Platt was driving an 18-wheeler in Chicago...

"Did I ever have my sights set on being the lead singer of Kansas? Uh -- no!"

Then, the email that changed his life. He'd been chosen to replace retiring lead singer Steve Walsh.

With new creative blood, the heartland rockers have just released The Prelude Implicit, their first new album in 16 years.

The Kansas tour begins...in Pennsylvania.

"Isn't that crazy," says Platt, "that Philadelphia and Pittsburgh - the northeast - happens to love a band called Kansas?!"

Kansas plays the Merriam Theater next Saturday.
