Accordion Making Comeback In Queen Village

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Business has been booming at one accordion shop in Philadelphia's Queen Village neighborhood.

They were rocking their lederhosen inside Liberty Bellows in the 600 block of South 2nd Street. It's a busy time of year for the accordion shop with Oktoberfest underway.

There are hundreds of accordions displayed on shelves ranging from a few hundred of dollars to more than $10,000.

Owner Mike Bulboff has been buying and selling accordions around the world (thanks to the internet) for about 12 years.

"We got piano accordions, we got concertinas, we got bottom boxes, every accordion is different they are like snowflakes," he says.

Repairs are made in the shop. They buy and rent the instruments too. Lessons are given by way of Skype and the old fashion way right in the shop.

Celebrities have been known to do business with liberty bellow. Bruce Springsteen band members Charles Giordano and Nils Lofgren purchased an accordion a piece from the shop when on tour in Philadelphia earlier this month.
