New Book Highlights 700 Wonders Of The World, Including Some In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new book released today serves as a guide to the 700 wonders of the world, and Philadelphia has a few mentions throughout.

The book is called 'Atlas Obscura.'

The book includes stories of a baby jumping festival in Spain, a glowworm lighted cave in New Zealand, Viagra ice cream in Venezuela and a voodoo museum in Louisiana.

Joshua Foer is the co-author of the book. He said the City of Brotherly Love was included because of the city's weird history at the Eastern State Penitentiary and the medical specimens of the Mutter Museum in Center City.

"I actually think Philadelphia may be the most curious city in America, it is certainly up there on my list, I think Pennsylvania in general is a great state for people who like to explore and find great little bits of history that otherwise may get overlooked."

The authors of the book will be in Philadelphia on September 27th for a talk, book signing and reception at the Mutter Museum.
