Man Facing Fines For Having Too Many Pro-Trump Signs In His Yard

HAVERHILL, Mass. (CBS) -- A Massachusetts man's support for a presidential candidate has landed him in some hot water with city officials.

CBS Boston reports, that Trump supporter, Rick Early, is facing some stiff fines for having too many signs in his front yard.

Haverhill has an ordinance that allows residents up to 32 square feet of political signs -- anything over is prohibited. According to CBS Boston, Early's signs add up to over 300 feet.

"Political campaign signs announcing the candidates seeking public political office and other data pertinent thereto, up to a maximum total sign area of 32 square feet for each property," the ordinance states. "These signs shall be confined within private property and removed within 14 days after the election for which they were made."

Earlier this month, one of Trump's "Make America Great Again" signs was stolen from a lawn in Ocean County, N.J. Police were searching for the suspect, caught in the middle of the act on surveillance video.

"This is my property, and I have a constitutional right to express my opinions," Early told CBS Boston, explaining he'll go to court if he needs to in order to keep the signs. "They're not coming down. It's free speech, maybe I'm offending the Hillary supporters, but that's OK. They have their own property, I have my own property."
