Positively Philadelphia: Residents Welcome At City Hotel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - All the hotels in the area put out the welcome mat for out of town guests.

But one hotel is extending it to area residents as well.

"Living the Logan is very exciting," says Sandy Heydt with the Logan. "This program is completely geared to locals."

The Logan replaced the Four Seasons last year. First up, says Heydt…

"It's called Paws and Spa. The Spa at The Logan welcomes guests to spend the evening pampering with their pups. There will be massages for humans, free teeth and ear cleaning for dogs, and the opportunity to adopt a dog from Morris Animal Refugee. This event is free and takes place from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Courtyard on September 12.

Other programs coming up: learning from a professional how to make a vertical garden, making greeting cards from antique wallpaper, a mindfulness seminar and Heydt says much more:

"We do three yoga classes a week, in our courtyard. If you don't have a mat we have one for you. And the yoga program continues all year."

And they invite you to take a tour of the hotel restaurant Urban Farmer -- a scratch restaurant where chefs often come out of the kitchen and grab some pickled item right off the shelf to use in your dish.

And soon, Heydt says the hotel is going to offer a mobile app explaining the art work like to they do at museums:

"There are 300 pieces of original art by Philadelphia artists, and every single piece of art tells a story about Philadelphia, our founding fathers and the history of our country. "

She says they want Philadelphians to see this hotel as their living room and their second home.
