Police: Off-Duty Officer Shot Son During Altercation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say an off-duty officer shot his son twice during an altercation inside of his residence earlier this week.

Authorities say on Monday, September 5, Officer Dorion Young was inside of his home on the 2700 block of Taunton Street when he engaged in a verbal altercation with his 19-year-old son.

Police say during the altercation, Officer Young discharged his pistol twice, striking his son in the abdomen/back.

Medics transported the victim to Aria Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Police say Officer Young, a 24 year veteran, has been placed on restricted duty.
