Jay Lloyd's Getaway: America's Cup

By Jay Lloyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One of the most dynamic international sporting events is nine months away. But if you want to see the America's Cup in person, in Bermuda, you better book it now.

The world's fastest boats, powered by wind alone, will be tacking in Bermuda waters next June.

Reports from the island indicate that some hotels and most guest houses are already fully booked. But there's another option - cruise. The races will be held nearly all month on Bermuda's Great Sound, within sight of the cruise ship port at the Royal Dockyard. The Dockyard will be fitted out as the America's Cup Village - the center of activity.

June cruises will be operated by Celebrity Cruise Line from Port Liberty, New Jersey and by Norwegian Cruise Line from New York and Boston.

If you want to be on hand for the finale, try to book the Celebrity cruise. And while you're at it, make arrangements now for a spot on a "Race Watch" boat or an on-shore overlook.

You'll have a better chance during the preliminary races.
