Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- Authorities say a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Wilmington, Delaware Wednesday morning has died.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, identified as Danny J. Peak, 59, was jogging in the 2200 block of Lancaster Avenue when, for unknown reasons, he entered the roadway.

Authorities say he was struck by a 2004 Mercedes 500, operated by a 46-year-old man from Hockessin.

The driver remained on the scene, police say.

The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
