Woman Dead, Man Critically Wounded In North Philly Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A woman is dead and a man is fighting for his life after a shooting overnight in North Philadelphia.

It happened just after 12:30 a.m. Monday along the 2200 block of North Chadwick Street.

Police say responding officers arrived at the scene at found a 26-year-old woman lying in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the back and a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the head.

Both victims were rushed to Temple Hospital, where the woman died a short time later.

The man remains in extremely critical condition.

Investigators say it is unclear what the relationship was between the two victims and that they are working with very few leads.

"We do not any description on the offenders, nor were there any cameras in the area," said Captain Mark Overwise. "And at this time we have no motive."

Police did find eight shell casings at the scene and are urging anyone with tips to come forward.
