Christie Revokes Longstanding Tax Agreement Between PA And NJ

NEW JERSEY (CBS) -- New Jersey's almost four decades old agreement with Pennsylvania for people who work in one state and live in the other has been revoked by Governor Chris Christie.

Christie blames what he calls 'the legislature irresponsibly creating a 250 million dollar state budget hole in June.'

It comes down to public employee health insurance savings called for, but not cut from the budget. Bottom line, residents of both states will have to file in both states, rather than just their state of residency.

Cherry Hill Assemblyman Lou Greenwald is disappointed by Christie's action.

"The impact of this will be that on our residents that we represent in this region, there will be a tax increase."

Christie indicated he might reverse his decision if legislators act next week on those healthcare costs. Greenwald suggests that could be done, if others like Christie come to the table to talk.
