Teen Charged For Pretending To Set Himself On Fire In Wildwood

WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- A teenager is facing charges in Wildwood after a bizarre prank went wrong at a motel.

On Sunday, authorities say Austin Gaile threatened to set himself on fire in an elevator full of people at the Isle of Palms Motel. Gaile is from New York City.

The 19-year-old poured liquid on himself from a can labeled gasoline, according to police. The substance turned out to actually just be water.

Police say Gaile had no intention of harming himself and that he was hoping to record the reactions of bystanders and post it all on social media.
