Police Charge Phila. DA's Girlfriend With Slashing Tires On 2 City Owned Vehicles

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A woman identified as the girlfriend of DA Seth Williams has been charged with slashing the tires of two city-owned vehicles used by the DA when they were parked outside of his home last fall.

Forty-seven-year-old Stacey Cummings surrendered Sunday to face charges of criminal mischief and possession of an instrument of crime.

She was released without bond to await court action.

The incident actually took place last November and was investigated by the DA's office.

The charges were filed by the Delaware County District Attorney's office.

Williams had identified Cummings as his girlfriend in financial disclosure documents filed for 2014, citing a gift of a Rolex watch she gave him valued at $6,500. He declared it a Christmas gift.

Investigators declined to comment on what led them to Cummings.

A spokesman for the Philadelphia DA's office released the following statement: 'Due to the potential conflict of interest, all decisions regarding investigatory matters, charges, bail requests, and the prosecution of this matter are being handled by the Delaware County District Attorney's Office. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office referred the matter to Delaware County but was required to enter the charges approved by Delaware County into the Philadelphia arrest report system.'
