The Eagles' Good, Bad & Ugly

By Joseph Santoliquito

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (CBS) — The Eagles are 3-0 in the preseason and there have been many things to like this summer.

It may be a little hard to accept, however, because this is a mirage. Still, that doesn't mean there weren't a lot of positives, some things to dislike and a few things that were ugly in the Eagles' 33-23 victory over the Indianapolis Colts Saturday night.

The Eagles also beat a team that was missing 7 front-line defensive players.

The Good

The defense has only given up three touchdowns this preseason. The Eagles went 10-straight quarters without giving up a touchdown on defense. Preseason or no preseason, that's one great streak to have.

Receiver Josh Huff showed a glimpse of what he could be in the first half, catching two passes for 60 yards and scoring on a 9-yard jet sweep.

Quarterback Sam Bradford certainly looks good in third preseason games. He lit up Green Bay last year and fooled the Eagles' fandom into thinking he was the next coming of Dan Marino. Against the Colts, Bradford was 12 of 14 for the first half, and helped the Eagles build a 17-3 lead by intermission. Bradford finished 17-for-20, for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Receiver Dorial Green-Beckham's 4-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter is a strong template for the Eagles to work off of this year in the red zone.

Defensive end Brandon Graham and the pressure he placed on Andrew Luck.

Defensive tackles Beau Allen and Bennie Logan getting first-half sacks.

Defensive end Connor Barwin's first quarter sack.

The Bad

Receiver Nelson Agholor is beginning to look more and more like a first-round bust. It doesn't help when passes bounce off your hands and they turn into interceptions. Agholor wasn't targeted again.

The Ugly

Missed tackles. Nolan Carroll's missed tackle gave the Colts an opportunity to score midway through the third quarter. Carroll later made up for it on the same drive with an interception in the end zone.

Penalties. In three games they've been penalized (23-166) 31 times for 230 yards.

Safety Ed Reynolds better learn how to block and learn fast if he's going to make it on special teams. He whiffed on a block that led to Josh McNary blocking a Donnie Jones' punt and leading to a Colts' TD.

Kicker Cody Parkey may have lost the job to Caleb Sturgis, and missing extra points certainly don't help—no matter what stage the game is in.
