Destructive, Tree-Killing Beetle Discovered In Delaware

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, De. (CBS) -- A destructive, invasive beetle, that kills ash trees, has been detected in the state of Delaware.

Officials say an Emerald Ash Borer was recently caught in a trap in New Castle County. The state is responding, now banning untreated wood from coming into the state.

The move is an effort to help prevent the spread of the beetle.

Many lawns in Delaware are dotted with ash trees. Infected trees die and must be removed -- a cost that falls on home owners.
