A Culture Celebration Recognizes Indian Tradition At Penn's Landing

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- An ongoing series of cultural celebrations at Penn's Landing continued on Saturday with the 22nd Festival of India.

Men and women both young and old were draped in colorful attire, as a wide array of dancers and entertainers kept the audience's attention on the stage. Balaji Raghothaman is President of Sruti, the India Music and Dance Society of Philadelphia, he explains what makes the Festival so special to him.

"Put our culture out there for people to see, and also to participate. And you see more and more people who are not of Indian origin also participating in our culture, in our arts, and we welcome that," he said.

In addition to the performers, guests were treated to authentic Indian cuisine, arts and crafts, clothing, and henna tattoos.
