Campaign Spokesman: DA Williams' Gift Controversy An Oversight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This week, Philadelphia's District Attorney disclosed more than $160,000 in personal gifts from family and friends, and it's created a bit of controversy in the office.

Campaign spokesman Mustafa Rashed says Seth Williams combed through everything he has received from 2010-2015:

"Trips, and in-kind lodging for trips that he took for his professional work responsibilities."

He says it was an oversight and will never happen again:

"In Seth's zeal to work on the many things he is passionate about, he overlooked one of the areas that is just as important-- and that is compliance and full disclosure."

The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Federal agents have been to the office and interviewed staffers, and that Williams sent out an email to his staff, apologizing for the controversy.

A spokesman for the District Attorney's Office declined to comment.
