Woman Allegedly Pours Bleach On Shopper, Baby During Department Store Argument

WILMINGTON, De. (CBS) -- Delaware State Police are asking for the public's help. They are trying to identify a suspect who they say poured bleach on a customer at an area department store.

Officials say that on Thursday, August 4, around 5:49 p.m., a 24-year-old woman was shopping at a Target at 1050 Brandywine Parkway in Wilmington.

Authorities say another woman, the suspect in the incident, approached the shopper and was angry that her cart was blocking the aisle. Police say the victim moved her cart to allow the woman to pass.

Officials say that the suspect struck the woman's cart, while she passed, with her own cart. Police say a verbal altercation, between the two women, followed. They add that the suspect allegedly opened a bottle of bleach and poured it over the victim's head.

Police add that the bleach got on a one-year-old child riding in the victim's cart. Officials say the suspect was last seen fleeing the store and getting into a small white passenger vehicle, accompanied by a man.

The victim and the child were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a black woman, short in height with a large build. They say she had braided hair and was last seen wearing a black and yellow dress.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Corporal Michael Fiore at 302-761-6677.
