Soul Battle Sharks Sunday For Berth In ArenaBowl

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Soul sit just one victory away from a berth in the ArenaBowl.

The Soul will look to punch that ticket to the title game on Sunday night when they take on the Jacksonville Sharks up in Allentown in the American Conference Championship Game.

Philadelphia opened the postseason this past Sunday with a 63-41 win over Tampa Bay.

"We did what we needed to," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "We took care of the football for the most part in certain areas. The defense played really, really well. If the defense plays like that from here on out in the playoffs, we're going to have great chances to win a lot of football games."

On Sunday the Soul will take on a Jacksonville team that beat Orlando in overtime last week, 69-68.

"They do everything well," Dolezel says. "They're very talented. They've got one of the best quarterbacks in (Tommy) Grady. He's hard to get to, he's 6'7". They've got, I don't know how many pounds in front of him, protecting him. He is very, very tough to bring down when you do get to him."

Grady also has an incredibly talented receiver to throw to in Joe Hills. He caught 58 touchdowns during the regular season.

"You're not going to stop him completely," Dolezel says. "He's too big, he's too strong. Grady throws a great ball to him when he is covered, so that's a big factor for them."

These two teams met in the conference championship game last year. Jacksonville won, 61-56, in South Philadelphia.

Sunday's game kicks off at 6:00 p.m.
