Banned From Twitter, Milo Yiannopoulos Joins Snapchat In Attempt To Rebuild Audience

LONDON (CBS) – When life bans you from one social media site, simply join another.

That's the motto right-wing Breitbart journalist Milo Yiannopoulos is sticking to after he announced he will soon open a Snapchat account.

Yiannopolous was banned from Twitter after a series of tweets about "Ghostbusters" star Leslie Jones. In the tweets, he expressed his contempt for Jones using language such as "your work is terrible" and called her "barely literate."

His followers, who are known for sending graphic messages to women in the name of gender equality, followed behind spewing racist comments to Jones.

The commentary was so bad that it caused Leslie to leave the social media site completely.

"I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart. All this cause I did a movie." She wrote.

Twitter responded to Leslie, and other celebrities who spoke out on her behalf by using the hashtag #LoveforLeslieJ, by permanently suspending Yiannopolous's @Nero account.

They cited "repeated violations of the Twitter Rules specifically our rules prohibiting participating in or inciting targeted abuse of individuals," as the reason for the suspension.

The Gamer Gate group advocate told the Business Insider that with his new Snapchat account he will attempt to rebuild his audience.

He told the insider, that he believes Snapchat will work better for his brand of performance journalism, and it would certainly shield him from complaints.
