Ben Simmons, Sixers To Open Season At Home Against Thunder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The NBA released the 2016-17 schedule on Thursday afternoon and the Sixers will be back in the national spotlight this upcoming season.

The Sixers will open the season on October 26 when they host the Kevin Durant-less Oklahoma City Thunder. Ben Simmons will make his NBA debut, squaring off against Russell Westbrook and the Thunder.

The Sixers have not found themselves in the spotlight much in the last few seasons, but that game will be one of three nationally televised games for the team.

Brandon Ingram and the Lakers will take on the Sixers on December 16 and that game will also be carried, coast-to-coast as the top two picks in the draft square off. The Sixers travel out to Minnesota on November 17th, which will also be carried nationally.

The Sixers will host the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers on November 5th, bring LeBron James in to town to face Simmons, a player he mentors.

On February 27, the Sixers will host the Durant, Steph Curry and the Warriors.
