Excessive Heat Warning In Philadelphia Prompts Activation Of Heatline

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The city of Philadelphia has declared an Excessive Heat Warning, and that means the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging has activated the Heatline.
The Heatline will operate until midnight Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and 8:30 until 6 p.m. Saturday.
PCA's Chris Gallagher says the goal is to raise awareness about heat stress, and its signs and symptoms.
"We're encouraging people to call our Heatline at 215-765-9040, if they need some tips on how to keep cool or they know someone who is experiencing heat stress."
He says symptoms include not feeling normal, feeling nauseous, vomiting, sweating heavily or not sweating at all.
The Heatline has medical staff on hand, and can send out mobile teams if a caller needs medical treatment.
