Separate Obits For South Jersey Man Mention Wife, Girlfriend

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Services are scheduled Sunday in Atlantic City for a 55-year-old Egg Harbor Township man who passed away earlier this week.

The death notice in the local paper might make some do a double take.

Not one, but two obituaries ran in the Press of Atlantic City announcing arrangements for Leroy Black.

The first obit included his nickname "Blast" and listed among the survivors a longtime girlfriend named Princess Hall. The other posted Black's middle name, Bill, and referred to his loving wife, Bearatta Harrison Black.

Mind you, this was not a printing error.

"We follow the state law which is that there is one point of contact," Joseph Greenidge Junior with the Greenidge Funeral Home told KYW Newsradio, "and, in this case, as in any case, it would be the spouse and so we followed the direction of the spouse."

He also noted there have been instances of multiple obits written from different perspectives. But there will be only one service.
