Martin O'Malley On Donald Trump: 'That Immigrant Bashing Carnival Barker'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley took the stage on Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention.

O'Malley used the platform to endorse Hillary Clinton for president, while also attacking Republican nominee Donald Trump. O'Malley qualified himself by making it clear that he has worked alongside Clinton and has competed against her during his own pursuit of the White House.

"It's time to put a bully racist in his place and a strong woman in hers," O'Malley said as he attempted to disqualify Trump for the White House. "Donald Trump's opinion of himself is way too high," he asserted.

"I'll tell you what," O'Malley said. "If the Chinese were really capable of designing some kind of diabolical farce to hurt America, they wouldn't invent global warming. They'd invent Donald Trump."

O'Malley stuck with the bully narrative.

"Here's what I learned in elementary school, on the playground," O'Malley said. "Bullies are really just cowards in disguise."

O'Malley referred to Trump as an "immigrant bashing carnival barker," and said "the hell with Trump's American nightmare. We believe in the American dream."
