Man Tied Up, Held At Gunpoint In Sea Isle City Home Invasion

SEA ISLE CITY, NJ (CBS) -– Police are looking into a trio who tied up a man then ransacked his home in Sea Isle City.

Police say around 3 in the morning on Thursday, July 21 a woman knocked on the door of the home on 47th Place. The resident opened the door and was surprised by two men in masks, at least one of them with a gun.

Authorities say they tied the 38-year-old resident up in a chair in the garage and began ransacking the home until they were surprised by the victim's father upstairs.

The suspects left without injuring anyone and drove off in an unknown vehicle.

Police won't say at this point if they believe the victim's home was chosen at random or if the suspects knew any of the occupants.

They anticipate releasing further details on Friday.

Neighbors on 47th Place were startled to learn of the incident in the relatively low crime shore town.

"It's a shame cause it's the summer, it's have a good time, nothing to worry about. Now there's a little something to worry about," says summer resident Lisa Mullarkey.
