KYW Newsradio Presents: Dems After Dark: Day 2

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are receptions, parties and special events all over the city during the Democratic National Convention. KYW Newsradio is getting you on the guest list and taking you to the fun through "Dems After Dark."

On Tuesday, there were fun events taking place all over the city, like at the Union League. Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan Boyle was participating in a friendly food competition with New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. The New York cheesecake won over the Philly cheesesteak. The canoli from a Philly bakery bested NYC's black and white cookie.

When night fell, the private parties got hopping. Bru and U-ban in Center City have been hosting events all week. Hank Henson is the general manager at U-ban. He says the out-of-town folks are hitting up the local beer.

"Congressman, senators," Henson said. "A lot of Tröegs, Forest and Main.

Ryan Moore spoke about his friend, Hillary Clinton, on Tuesday night. After that he stopped by a private party at Bru.

"It has just been a really special bond that we had," Moore said. He was enjoying a craft beer at the party. "I am a beer man. IPA's are good."

Chris Younge is the owner of Little Lion in Old City. A top Democratic leader stopped by a party there on Tuesday night.

"Nancy Palosi gave a speech from our grand staircase," Younge said, "which is really, really cool."

Michael Sultan is owner of 33rd Street Hospitality. He was serving up food at a delegate party at the 23rd Street Armory, just one of his catering events during the DNC.

"It's a hard drinking crowd," Sultan said. "A hearty eating crowd. business is good."
