With DNC Underway, Host Committee Is Ready To Show Off Philadelphia

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 2016 Philadelphia Host Committee has recruited several hundred volunteers for their digital team during the DNC.

They will be posting, tweeting, sharing about why they love Philadelphia.

During the DNC the host committee will be deploying social media content creators around the city.

Annie Heckenberger is the Director of digital and social.

"Social media is going to be front and center as we share the city wide convention experience with people who are watching from around the world. It's a really good opportunity to show off the best of Philadelphia."

The team of several hundred volunteers includes photographers, videographers, gif creators, and Spanish language translators.

"We developed the strategy over a year ago. We want to show that real authentic cheesesteaks and water ice part of Philadelphia, but also the cosmopolitan aspect of our city with institutions like The Barnes, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and there's so many today to show off."

The host committee is active on on all the major social networks including YouTube and Spotify, but they also have a blog.

You can follow them @phldnc2016.
