Manu Ginobili: 'Brett Brown Made 76ers Appealing'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ultimately, the San Antonio Spurs were going to let go of Manu Ginobili.

But, Ginobili, a 38-year-old four time champion and two-time all-star, was reportedly offered $30 million by the Sixers. And according to The Vertical, Ginobili's conversations with the Sixers "weren't a mild flirtation, nor a negotiating ploy to squeeze some extra dollars out of the only NBA franchise for which he's played."

Thanks in large part to his relationship with Sixers coach and ex-Spurs assistant Brett Brown, Ginobili says he truly considered Philadelphia.

"The fact that Philadelphia had a great coach and a person I appreciate so much as Brett Brown, made it more appealing in the case the Spurs didn't happen," Ginobili said via The Vertical. "But the Spurs happened and they always had the priority."

While Sixers fans would have enjoyed it, Ginobili would look weird in a different NBA uniform. Nevertheless, his high praise of Brown and strong consideration of Philadelphia is just another baby step forward for The Process.
