DNC Committee Unveiled Its Stage At Wells Fargo Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With the Republican National Convention now finished, politicos will shift their attention to Philadelphia.

The Democratic National Committee unveiled its stage at the Wells Fargo Center Friday morning.

"It's just amazing to see it transform the way it is, and for the national world stage. And we are very very proud of Philadelphia, of this building, of the work that was done here, and for what is going to happen here," said Mayor Jim Kenney.

The podium stands on a circular section of stage, in front of a giant video wall.

Democratic National Convention Committee CEO Leah Daughtry says, "It's always a little bit overwhelming. You have a sense of history, of being on the front row of history. So it's a great stage. It's a huge contrast to what we saw in Cleveland and so we're excited about what's going to happen over the next few days."

Mayor Kenney also pointed out the significance of the first female major-party presidential nominee in Philadelphia.

"This is a city of firsts. First in democracy, first in libraries and fire departments, and we go on, and on, and on. And this'll be the first here, and it'll be wonderful."

Kenney said the Democratic Convention should be a sharp contrast to the Republicans, likening what he saw last night to the WWF.
