Security Measures Being Deployed Ahead Of DNC

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Democratic National Convention is less than a week away and security measures are being deployed.

Anti-shatter film is being added to glass at the AT&T station near the Wells Fargo Center and cars along Broad Street are being tagged, reminding people towing will be in effect during the convention.

"We are ready to do it and hit it out of the park,"' said DNC Chairman and former Governor Ed Rendell. "Does that mean we will? There is no guarantee, because the one X factor is security," he continued.

Rendell said he's not worried about security in or directly around the stadium. Rather he's worried about what could happen during protests.

"If someone wants to trade their life for others, it's almost impossible in a free society to say we can prevent that all the time," he said.

Wednesday, security fences were set up around Wells Fargo Center and FDR Park where protestors will gather.

"I think we've done everything we can. Security is at its optimum level. Can I guarantee nothing with happen? Anybody who guarantees nothing will happen is a fool. There is always a risk, but in this case, I think it's a minimal risk," stated Rendell.
