Police: Woman Steals Thousands Worth Of Wawa Coffee, Tries To Sell It Back

WEST GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, PA (CBS) – You've certainly heard the slogan "Gotta Hava Wawa." Well, police in the suburbs are looking for a woman who takes that slogan to a whole new level.

The West Goshen Police Department is investigating after a woman is accused of stealing more than $3,000 worth of bagged coffee from various Wawa convenience stores.

Captain Gregory Stone says the woman drank nary a drop of it.

"She takes the bags of coffee, then returns them for the cash," Stone told KYW Newsradio. "We probably have 40 to 50 thefts right now through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and some in Maryland."

She reportedly walks in to one store and steals numerous bags of coffee from the coffee island. Afterwards, she drives a short distance and returns the stolen coffee to another store for cash.

Wawa officials complained after noticing a pattern of thefts in the late night and early morning hours.

Store surveillance footage has captured at least two different vehicles, a silver sedan and maroon sport utility vehicle, being operated by the suspect.

On several incidents, officials say she was seen wearing scrubs and it is possible she is a traveling health care worker.

The department asks that anyone with information contact them at 610-696-7400.
