Looking For A Workout Partner? There's An App For That

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you're looking to find Pokémon, there's an app for that.

If you're looking for a date tonight, there's an app for that. Now, if you're looking for a workout partner, there's an app for that too.

Bvddy, pronounced buddy, is a new app for athletes in the Philadelphia area who are looking for partners in the sport of their choice.

It's how runners like Danielle Levin and Monica Morgenstern from Villanova found each other.

"I'm always kind of on the app store looking for different workout apps. I downloaded it, looked into it and it was really awesome. I decided that it was definitely something I wanted to keep using and keep playing around with," Danielle said.

"We just both recently graduated from college so were away from the campus and there's really no social network going on back here in the suburbs. So when I found the app, I was just scrolling through it because I wanted to go on a run and we matched up," Monica said. "It just makes it so much easier to have a workout buddy."

The creator of Bvddy is a former competitive tennis player. He was having a hard time finding someone to play on his skill level, which is what sets his app apart from all of the rest.

"It's a tremendous thing for more advanced players and more intermediate players as well and for beginners," he said.

So, how does it work?

First, you create a profile then you pick your sport.

"It'll match you and then you can say your preferred gym time and your skill level," says Danielle.

And just like that the road to better health with your buddies begins.
